My Journey
Please see below my bio for my trainings and certifications as well as some of the trainings I offer.
I pursued my Bachelors at University of California, Berkeley (Go Bears!) studying psychology knowing I wanted to be a therapist. I knew I wanted to help others - feel as though they belong, get through tough moments in their lives, to help build relationships or realize perhaps what relationships are no longer serving them.
After graduation, I took a small detour and completed Teach for America, teaching first grade at the largest elementary school in Houston. For me that solidified that I wanted to work with youth and families as part of my practice as a therapist.
I then pursued my graduate studies at University of San Diego. My traineeship was completed at UCSD’s Co-Occurring Disorders Clinic serving ages 18+ experiencing severe mental health issues and substance use. After I began working at a local nonprofit, providing services throughout San Diego County with foster children aged 3-21, in their foster homes, biological homes, community as well as in an office setting. It was there that I fell in love with play therapy as play is truly the language of children. After 5+ years, I moved into a Clinical Supervisor role at another local nonprofit, serving youth, adults and families. I provided supervision to clinicians working with children, adults and families experiencing trauma, domestic violence, substance use and severe mental illness. Further expanding my clinical practice, I moved into a role as Clinical Program Director in a Residential Treatment Center working with teens, providing individual, family and group therapy as well as supervising my amazing therapists and staff there.
My goal is to reach youth, adults and families and help them find their own solutions by providing person centered and attachment based therapeutic approaches. My specialties include trauma, depression, anxiety, parent-child relational issues, personality disorders and attachment, including foster care and adoption.
I work with youth aged 12+ and adults. Youth must be able to participate in telehealth appointments.
